0

0

Article ID: KB25365 KB Last Updated: 01 Mar 2018Version: 3.0
Summary:

This article provides information on how to check the CentOS version before upgrading NSM.

Symptoms:
  • cat /etc/redhat-release does not indicate the CentOS version, instead shows the NSM Juniper OS version.
    [root@NSMXpress /]# cat /etc/redhat-release
    Juniper NSMXPress OS build 16.242681
    NSM 2012.1R3
Solution:

Run the following commands to verify the CentOS build and version the NSM appliance is running:

rpm -qa | grep centos

Look for  'centosN.N' within each package name/version  (where N.N is the version number).

Example of CentOS 4 (partial output):
[root@NSMXpress /]# rpm -qa | grep centos
redhat-logos-1.1.26-1.centos4.4
postgresql-8.4.10-centos4.4
postgresql-server-8.4.10-centos4.4
initscripts-7.93.31.EL-2.centos4.nsmx13
postgresql-libs-8.4.10-centos4.4
postgresql-devel-8.4.10-centos4.4

uname -a
CentOS 4 Example:
Linux NSMXpress.juniper.net 2.6.9-67.0.20.ELsmp #1 SMP Fri Jun 1 05:23:45 PDT 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

CentOS 5 Example:
Linux NSMXpress.juniper.net 2.6.18-274.el5PAE #1 SMP Fri Jul 22 05:34:36 EDT 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

CentOS 6 Example:
Linux NSM4000.juniper.net 2.6.32-642.11.1.SCLC6_5.R3.10.1.el6.i686 #1 SMP Thu Nov 24 03:43:17 IST 2016 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux ‚Äč

Notice the difference:

CentOS 4: ELsmp #1
CentOS 5: el5PAE #1
CentOS 6: el6.i686 #1

Modification History:
