What is the meaning of this error message and its impact?
Cause:
  • This message is peculiar to NS-5000 firewalls and is unrelated to any license key(s) on the firewall (Advanced, Vsys, Zone, and so on).

  • The error message is generated when the license.key file, which is stored in the flash, is corrupted.

  • This file is created with a specific combination of chassis and modules and when the combination is changed, serial numbers will not match; which results in file corruption. The file has to be removed.
Solution:
To resolve this issue, remove the corrupted license.key file from flash. Use the following command and reboot the device:
firewall -> delete file /license.key
This will remove the corrupted file from flash. If any licenses (Advanced, Vsys, Zone, and so on) are present, they will be automatically removed:
firewall -> get lic
