[ScreenOS] How to enable IP classification on shared interfaces

Article ID: KB25617 KB Last Updated: 19 Sep 2012Version: 1.0
This article provides information on how to enable IP classification on pre-defined (for example, Untrust zone) and custom defined shared zones.
If custom shared zones have been created, you have the option of enabling IP classification via the WebUI. But, in the case of pre-defined shared zones, there is no option for this in the WebUI. The option to classify the networks is available; but no option to enable it is displayed. So, the traffic fails in such scenarios, in which classification is required.

The following image illustrates the IP classification option not being available in the WebUI:

For the custom created shared zone, you can see that the option to enable IP classification is available in the WebUI:

In such cases, you have to enable IP classification on the pre-defined shared zones, via the CLI, by using the following command:
set zone untrust ip-classification
After the above command is configured, you will be able to use IP classification for a particular zone.
