Summary:
This article describes the issue of lengthy URLs being truncated in the event logs.


Symptoms:
Lengthy URLS are truncated in event logs.
Cause:
This is by design.
Solution:
  • The maximum allowed URL length in URL Blocked or Permitted event messages is 80 bytes.

  • This is by design; after the above specified length, the URL will be truncated in the event logs and subsequently in syslog.

  • For example:
    sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs629.snc4/58945_1466896445686_1631792100 (TRUNCATED)
    ssl.jtac.juniper.net/InfoManager/WebObjects/InfoManager.woa/wo/oss6RFK4soOQsia
