[EOL/EOE] [NSM] By default the Summarize delta config shows only the first 100 lines of the configuration difference

Article ID: KB25726 KB Last Updated: 18 Oct 2020Version: 2.0
Note: A product listed in this article has either reached hardware End of Life (EOL) OR software End of Engineering (EOE).  Refer to End of Life Products & Milestones for the EOL, EOE, and End of Support (EOS) dates.
This article describes the issue of the Summarize Delta Config operation being limited to only 100 lines of the configuration difference. The rest of the configuration difference lines are not displayed in the GUI. Additionally, the Reached maximum number of diffs (100). Rest diffs are not displayed error message is displayed.
You can configure the devSvrDirectiveHandler.maxdiffs parameter and increase the number of lines to the required value in the /var/netscreen/DevSvr/devSvr.cfg file.
The value of the devSvrDirectiveHandler.maxdiffs parameter, which is under the /var/netscreen/DevSvr/devSvr.cfg file, can be configured to display the number of lines in the Summarized Delta Config window.

To do so, perform the following procedure:

Note: The changes will take effect only after the 'devSvr' services is restarted.
  1. Logon to the NSM server CLI.

  2. Go to the /var/netscreen/DevSvr directory:
    # cd /var/netscreen/DevSvr
  3. Edit the devSvr.cfg file:
    # vi /var/netscreen/DevSvr/devSvr.cfg
  4. Search for the devSvrDirectiveHandler.maxdiffs string. Use / to search for the string in the vi editor.

  5. Change the value of the parameter from the default value of 100 to any desired value (for example, 500):

    devSvrDirectiveHandler.maxdiffs 100
    devSvrDirectiveHandler.maxdiffs 500
  6. Save the file and exit the vi editor (:wq!).

  7. Restart the devSvr services:
    # /etc/init.d/devSvr restart

Note: In case of HA setup in NSM, to avoid failover, you should stop the HA services on the Secondary (standby) server and then restart the HA services on the Primary (active) server for the changes to take effect.
# /etc/init.d/haSvr stop (Secondary / Standby)
# /etc/init.d/haSvr restart (Primary / Active)
# /etc/init.d/haSvr start (Secondary / Standby)
