[ScreenOS] How to monitor the power supply description and status on the firewall via SNMP

Summary:

This article provides information on how to monitor the description and status of the power supply on the firewall via SNMP.

Solution:

To monitor the description and status of the power supply, the following OIDs can be used:

  • .1.3.6.1.4.1.3224.21.1.1.1 (.*) - A 32-bit integer that uniquely identifies the power supply ID.

  • .1.3.6.1.4.1.3224.21.1.1.2 (.*) - A 32-bit integer that uniquely identifies the power supply module's status:
     
    • 0 - Fail

    • 1 - Good

  • .1.3.6.1.4.1.3224.21.1.1.3 (.*)  - A description for the power supply module.


Actual output of the status of the power supply from the device:

nsisg2000(M)-> get chassis
Chassis Environment:
Power Supply: One power supply is down

The primary power supply is down on the firewall.


The output of SNMP walk:

OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.3224.21.1.1.1.1
Value: 1

OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.3224.21.1.1.1.2
Value: 2

OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.3224.21.1.1.2.1
Value: 0 > output of 0 indicates that power supply is down

OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.3224.21.1.1.2.2
Value: 1 > output of 1 indicates that the power supply is good

OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.3224.21.1.1.3.1
Value: Primary Power

OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.3224.21.1.1.3.2
Value: Secondary Power
