Article ID: KB26752 KB Last Updated: 08 Mar 2017Version: 3.0
Summary:
This article describes the issue of SBR not fetching the directed realm, even after the respective attribute is received in the Radius-request packet by NAS devices.
Symptoms:
It is possible that the realm is not initiating; so authentication is performed by an un-required authentication method (which is in the Order of methods list on the SBR GUI).
Cause:
Refer to the following image:

Solution:
To resolve this issue, perform the following procedure:

  1. Open the Proxy.ini file, which is available in the default service directory (C:\Program Files\Juniper Networks\Steel-Belted Radius\Service).

  2. Under [AuthAttributeMap], mention one attribute under the Realm name to select the realm, when SBR sees the attribute in the Radius-request packet.

  3. The realm name is repeated, when more than one attribute is mentioned under a Realm name. By default, it becomes the AND function; so, to select the particular realm, all the attributes need to arrive in a single Radius-request packet:
