This article describes a procedure to make Event View filter searches case insensitive, which makes it easier for users to search for a custom username or payload with a specific string.

Symptoms:
 Users wish to search for a custom username or payload with a specific string.
Cause:
 
Solution:

Regex-based searches in Event Viewer can be made case insensitive by just adding a (?i) in front of the string you are searching for.

Example:

(?i)newuser will match newuser, NEWUSER, nEWUSER, neWUSER or any other combination of upper and lower case letters for that string.
