Article ID: KB27763 KB Last Updated: 03 Mar 2014Version: 3.0
Summary:

Adding SRX Cluster on NSM fails.

Symptoms:

Adding SRX Cluster on NSM fails with message : Device type mismatch.

Cause:

If SRX is configured as Virtual Chassis, then adding it on NSM as cluster would fail with message "Device type mismatch"

For more information on Virtual Chassis, please refer to KB18828.

Solution:

The virtual chassis configuration has to be removed from SRX

Can be done as follows:
  • Check the virtual chassis configuration on srx:
              root@srx# show chassis cluster network-management
              cluster-master;

  • root@srx# delete chassis cluster network-management cluster-master
  • root@srx# commit

A reboot is required to bring the changes to effect.
Once done, you can add the SRX cluster as a cluster on NSM.
