Article ID: KB27937 KB Last Updated: 26 Sep 2013Version: 1.0
Summary:

This article will explain what to expect from the show interfaces * command output for the 100-Gigabit Ethernet MIC/PICs.

Symptoms:

The 100-Gigabit Ethernet MIC/PICs are used on both the MX-Series,  T-Series, and TX-Series routers. However, the outputs are different between the two.

Cause:

Solution:

When configuring the 100-Gigabit Ethernet MIC/PIC, two subinterfaces are created:

et-x/y/0:0
et-x/y/0:1

The two subinterfaces are then combined into an AE interface.

On the MX-series routers when you execute a show interfaces * command (i.e., show interfaces terse), the interface shows up as just one physical interface. The individual subinterfaces are not shown.

On the T-series routers when you execute a show interfaces * command (i.e., show interfaces terse), the interface shows up as two physical interfaces. The individual subinterfaces are shown.
