[WLA] How to modify the PoE values for a WLA on an EX switch

Summary:

This article describes how to modify the maximum power that can be enabled from an EX capable Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch for a WLA.

Procedure:

  1. Check the management of the PoE and make sure that it is set to static.

  2. admin@EX4200-ATAC# run show poe controller
    Controller Maximum Power Guard band Management
    index power consumption
    0 740 W 36W 0W Class

  3. In this case, the management is set to class. To change the setting, enter the following command:

  4. admin@EX4200-ATAC# set poe management static

    Do not forget to commit the change.

  5. The result of the command run show poe controller should be:

  6. admin@EX4200-ATAC# run show poe controller
    Controller Maximum Power Guard band Management
    index power consumption
    0 740 W 34W 0W Static

    Users can now modify the maximum power on an interface:

    EX4200-ATAC# set poe interface ge-0/0/12 maximum-power 15.4
    admin@EX4200-ATAC# commit

    admin@EX4200-ATAC# run show poe interface ge-0/0/12
    PoE interface status:
    PoE interface : ge-0/0/12
    Administrative status : Enabled
    Operational status : OFF
    Power limit on the interface : 15.4W
    Priority : Low
    Power consumed : 0.0W
    Class of power device : not applicable

    Note that the maximum power on the interface has been set to the specified value.
