[ScreenOS] When is Critical 00024 alarm event generated ?

Article ID: KB28540 KB Last Updated: 28 Mar 2019Version: 2.0

The ScreenOS 6.2 Message Log Reference Guide explains the critical 00024 message. This log message is obsolete, but a similar warning can be generated when particular log buffers are overridden. This article explains the difference.

In the ScreenOS 6.2 Message Log Reference Guide, page 59, states the critical 00024 as:

Critical (00024)
Message "entries" has overflowed.

Meaning: The number of entries in the specified log has exceeded the maximum allowed in the specified log.

Action: Clear the log entries.

This log message is obsolete and is no longer generated:

(Critical -00024 -<entries> has overflowed.)

This log message was generated  when the queue to buffer the event log messages overflowed. Currently, there is no corresponding alarm message. However, there is a notification message which will be generated, if particular queue buffer is overwritten:

Notification (00628) audit log queue "ostor-name " is overwritten

Meaning: This generates an event log entry with the ostor-name, indicating that the event log has overflowed and and is being overwritten.

For example:

2013-10-11 12:55:58 system notif 00628 audit log queue Event Alarm Log is overwritten
