[STRM] JSA7500 not powering on

Article ID: KB28685 KB Last Updated: 26 Jan 2014Version: 2.0

This article describes how to fix a power issue seen on the JSA7500 platform.

When a new JSA7500 unit is received and installed, it is not powering on.

One possible cause is improper grounding.

When connecting the JSA to a DC Power Source, the proper grounding kit should be used for grounding any JSA7500 which has DC power.

Any DC powered JSA7500 produced after Dec 31st will be shipped with a grounding kit, which includes: 1 lug, 2 screws 10-32 x 1/4 inch pan head, and 2 washers 10 F/W SS .062 inch.

Appliances received prior to this date will not have received a grounding kit. If you did not receive a grounding kit, please use a 10-32 x 1/4 inch pan head screw with one 1mm washer for grounding the JSA7500.

Our recommendation for conductor wire use is 8 AWG or as required by local code.

  • The conductor wire is not part of the grounding kit.
  • AC SKUs are grounded through the power supply without a separate chassis ground.  Therefore, this article does not apply to AC powered JSA7500s.
