[EX] Syslog message: cm_tsunami_mpfe_update_link_status

Summary:

This article describes the syslog message cm_tsunami_mpfe_update_link_status and how to manage it.

Symptoms:

If you are using a small form-factor pluggable transceiver (SFP-T) on the EX4500 series platform, you may see the following syslog message.

Oct 22 20:44:20 EX4500 chassism[1331]: cm_tsunami_mpfe_update_link_status: ge-0/0/20 link status change - down

Cause:

When SFP-T ports on the EX4500 do not have a cable or active link connection, the EX continuously generates the following log message:

cm_tsunami_mpfe_update_link_status: <interface-name> link status change - down

This message was introduced in Junos OS 12.2.
Solution:

This message does not impact other functionality. You can safely ignore this message.

Or, you can filter this message using the set command from the messages file, as shown below:

set system syslog file messages match "!(.*cm_tsunami_mpfe_update_link_status.*)"

Note: This message has been removed from Junos OS 12.3R7 and above.
