Unable to view Current Sessions data in SBR Administrator GUI

Summary:

This article explains why a Current Session Query fails when executed from the SBR Administrator GUI.

The SBR Carrier tracks the status of user connections that it authenticates in a current sessions table (CST). Because the CST is based on RADIUS accounting data, the list of Active Sessions is accurate only if all of your network access servers (NAS) are configured to support RADIUS accounting. In this scenario (Radius Accounting enabled in NAS and SBR handling radius accounting traffic properly),  there seems to be an issue with querying and displaying session information.

Symptoms:

A query on Current Sessions fails with the message "No Session Found" and the Active Sessions do not show up in the GUI.

The SBR Debug Logging reports an error:  "Transaction Result = no session found" when Query is clicked, as shown in the image below.

Cause:

The CurrentSessions section in the radius.ini is disabled by default. A Query on Current Sessions will not work if this setting is disabled.

Solution:

Enable CurrentSessions in the radius.ini (as shown below), then restart the SBR Service.

Enable = 1
;CaseSensitiveUsernameCompare = 0

Note: This setting applies only to standalone servers.
