[Archive] STRM Setup wizard repeats on serial access

Article ID: KB29018 KB Last Updated: 24 Sep 2020Version: 2.0

The setup wizard is shown every time after login, when connected via console (serial) connection. This is caused by a missing file, /opt/qradar/conf/.configdone. This article offers a way to check for the presence of the file.

The setup wizard is shown every time after login, when connected via console (serial) connection.

If the file /opt/qradar/conf/.configdone is not present, the system will ask to complete setup whenever user logs in via console (serial).

The file /opt/qradar/conf/.configdone is missing, although the initial setup is completed properly.

The solution is to re-image the system. Use the following check procedure to avoid a re-image:

Navigate to conf directory and search for .configdone file.

cd /opt/qradar/conf/
ls -al .configdone

This file contains a timestamp entry as seen below:

less .configdone
Tue Feb 11 13:57:27 EST 2014
.configdone (END)

If it is not present, a user could try creating the file manually, and put a timestamp entry as shown above. Afterwards, the system should be rebooted.
