This article addresses the use of a space character in setting up a password.


Can a space character be used in a password configuration on the firewall?


The space character can be used to set up the following passwords:

  • Admin user password
  • NSRP encryption password
  • Auth server shared secret

The passwords can be set via the GUI or the CLI.

Example: Setting Admin user password via GUI

  • Below, the third character is a space.

Example: Setting Admin user password via CLI

  • If the space character is used in a password on the CLI, the password must be enclosed in quotation marks.
  • Below, the space character is used twice.
