[Junos Space] Cannot detect IPS/IDP license for SRX device(s)

Summary:

This article provides information on how to detect the IPS/IDP license installed on the device in Junos Space.

Symptoms:

When attempting to Publish the firewall policy from Security Director, the Warning message below is sometimes encountered even if an IDP license is installed on the device:

[Warning]: This device does not support IPS feature or IPS license is unavailable. Commit may fail on device for IPS configuration.

Cause:

Junos Space does not synchronize the IPS/IDP licenses on devices automatically if the licenses are added after device-discovery.

Solution:

To detect an IPS/IDP license installed on a device in Junos Space, perform the procedure below.

1. Log into the Junos Space Web UI, then switch to Security Director > Downloads > Signature Database > Install Configuration.

2. On the Space Web UI, perform a Full Probe or Delta Probe.

  • A Delta Probe scans only for missing devices.

  • A Full Probe scans for all the devices managed by Junos Space.


3. After the Probe is completed, the devices are listed. If a device is listed, it has an IPS license.


4. Install the IPS signature on the device. You can now Publish the policy without receiving the Warning message.
