  [KB29477] Show Article Properties

Summary:

This article describes why a specific number of satellites must be acquired by a TCA before it can lock to a GPS source.

Symptoms:

Clarify how many satellites must be acquired by a TCA6500 or a TCA8000/8500 before it can lock to a GPS source.

Cause:

A TCA device must "see" a number of satellites before it can lock to a GPS source.

The device uses a self-survey mode that automatically "looks" for satellites via the GPS antenna.

Presently, there is no way to acquire satellites by manually inputting their coordinates into the configuration.

Solution:

At least four (4) satellites must be acquired by a TCA before it can lock to a GPS source.
