Symptoms:

During a Junos OS upgrade or downgrade, the above error messages can be displayed. These error messages are nonimpacting and it is safe to ignore them.

Cause:

If you are doing a Junos upgrade or downgrade from the domestic version of Junos (i.e., US/Canada version) to the export version (i.e., Junos worldwide), or installing the worldwide version of Junos, then these error messages might be noticed as the worldwide version does not have the Junos cryptosoftware/Junos cryptoservices package for installation.

The following example Junos upgrade from the domestic code <jinstall64-13.2R5-domestic-signed.tgz> to the worldwide version <jinstall64-13.3R2.7-export-signed.tgz> shows the error messages in the router's boot messages:

lab@test-2> show version | match Crypto
JUNOS Crypto Software Suite [13.2R5]
JUNOS Services Crypto [13.2R5]

After the Junos upgrade to 13.3R2.7, the following messages are seen in the boot messages and in the log messages:

Using jruntime-13.3R2.7.tgz
Verified manifest signed by PackageDevelopmentEc_2014
Verified jruntime-13.3R2.7 signed by PackageDevelopmentEc_2014
Using jservices-13.3R2.7.tgz
Hardware Database regeneration succeeded
Validating against /config/juniper.conf.gz
mgd: error: schema: dbs_remap_daemon_index: could not find daemon name 'kmd'
mgd: error: schema: dbs_remap_daemon_index: could not find daemon name 'pkid'
mgd: error: schema: dbs_remap_daemon_index: could not find daemon name 'kmd'
mgd: error: schema: dbs_remap_daemon_index: could not find daemon name 'kmd'
mgd: error: schema: dbs_remap_daemon_index: could not find daemon name 'kmd'
Solution:

These errors are informational and indicate that cryptographic services will not be available in the worldwide version of Junos.
