IGMPv3 report or IGMP query messages with source IP of are not supported.


RFC 3376 says that an IGMP report with a source can be used by the system that is yet to acquire an IP address and it must be accepted by the router receiving it.

RFC 4541 also mentions a special case where the switch does IGMP query proxying and sends a query with a source IP address of It further states that such query messages must not be rejected because of the source IP address of


This feature is not supported on ScreenOS firewalls. If a firewall receives any packet with a source IP address of, the firewall will drop it as:

packet dropped, illegal src IP
