[Junos Space] Shutting down or restarting a Junos Space fabric node from the Web interface

Article ID: KB30747 KB Last Updated: 10 Mar 2016Version: 1.0
Summary:
Junos Space can be stopped or restarted from the Web interface. This can be used to failover services to another node. This article suggests two options to restart processes from the Web interface.
Symptoms:
The goal is to stop or restart an individual node for any reason, including failover testing. Using the options in the Web interface is reccomended.
Cause:
In a Junos Space fabric environment, any time a node or service is unavailabe (such as node reboot), other nodes take over for that service if possible, or the service is restarted on the available node. For details, see the High Availability and Disaster Recovery Guide.
Solution:
Important Note: If you have Junos Space Fabric (multiple nodes), be aware of your Junos Space database replication status prior to triggering a database node failover.

There are two options to restart processes from the Web interface.

  1. Shutdown the active node from the shell/GUI (Network Management Platform -> Administration -> Fabric -> Actions after selecting Node).

    OR

  2. Reboot the active node from the shell/GUI (Network Management Platform -> Administration -> Fabric -> Actions after selecting Node).

Note: While a restart can be done from the CLI, restarting from the Web interface is the best option for a graceful shutdown/restart. The event will be logged to audit logs.
