Article ID: KB30902 KB Last Updated: 05 Aug 2016Version: 1.0
Summary:

When installing contrail, you can choose to have one single interface for data/control/management or separate the management and data/control traffic between multiple interfaces. From Contrail 2.X and higher, data/control cannot be on separate interfaces. For example, they must use the same physical interface or bond interface. Management traffic can be on a separate physical interface.

Symptoms:

How to identify physical interfaces used for data/control traffic on a compute node

Solution:

Use the following command to find the physical interface or interfaces on the compute host used for data/control traffic:

#less /etc/contrail/contrail-vrouter-agent.conf | grep phy
physical_interface_address=
physical_interface_mac=94:57:a5:5a:cf:6d
vmware_physical_interface=
physical_interface=em2

In the output above, em2 interface on the compute host is used for data/control traffic.
