How to remove IRB links from Web Topology in WANDL

Article ID: KB31067 KB Last Updated: 27 Jun 2017Version: 1.0
Summary:

When Host Discovery Task is executed, the collected data includes nodes and interface info which can stitch IRB (Integrated Routing and Bridging Interfaces) links together. Hence WANDL will display IRB links in the Web Topology. If IRB links are displayed, the Web Topology can look very messy. This article describes how to clean up and optimize this topology.

Symptoms:

Web Topology needs cleanup.

Cause:

The displayed topology does not impact WANDL core functionality. This procedure describes how to clean up and optimize Web Topology.

Solution:

How to remove IRB links from Web Topology

In SLNC Task, please do the following:

(A) Collection Option

1. Data Consolidation:
  • Check Incremental Network Update
  • Check Consolidate with existing WANDL data
  • Host Discovery: None

(B) Conversion Options

1. Specify BGP Options
  • Check Ignore AS Node and Links
2. Specify Misc Options
  • Uncheck Ignore VRF when stitching links

Once above is completed, either run SLNC Task immediately or schedule SLNC Task.

Note: Please note that, removing IRB links from the Web Topology will not stop traffic collection for IRB links. If you also want to stop collection of IRB interface traffic, please use Selective Interface Traffic Collection  to filter the traffic in WANDL.
