[EOL/EOE] [WLC/WLM] Unable to deploy changes to the network after making changes from RingMaster

Article ID: KB31380 KB Last Updated: 13 Nov 2020Version: 4.0
Note: A product listed in this article has either reached hardware End of Life (EOL) OR software End of Engineering (EOE).  Refer to End of Life Products & Milestones for the EOL, EOE, and End of Support (EOS) dates.

This article explains why a user cannot deploy changes to the network after making changes from RingMaster.

RingMaster will not allow you to deploy local changes while there are pending network changes.

Under Devices tab of the RingMaster application, in the Tasks panel (right side of the screen), you will find two sections: Local Changes and Network Changes.

  1. Local Changes - Configuration changes made using RingMaster.
Note: When you make a change in RingMaster, they do not take effect on the WLC [Network] until you deploy.

  2. Network Changes - Configuration changes made from the Controller's CLI or WebGUI.
Note: When you make a change in WLC using CLI or WebGUI, they take effect immediately and display here as Network Change. This means RingMaster is not in sync with the WLC and it requires action.

CAUTION: The following actions may cause critical impact on your wireless environment. Before accepting or deploying, if you are unsure of the changes seen on RingMaster, we strongly advise you to contact JTAC.

Before making a local change from RingMaster, ensure that there are no pending 'Network' changes. To check this:

  1. Go to Devices tab --> Network Changes. Then click Refresh and wait.

  2. If there are no changes, Review your local changes. If you approve then you are good to deploy.

  3. If network changes are available, Click Review.

  4. If you are satisfied with the changes seen, then accept the changes. This will bring RingMaster and WLC in sync. Now you will be able to deploy the local changes.

  5. If you do not want those changes, you can Undo them and that will cause RingMaster to reject the configuration change done from CLI/WebGUI of WLC, after which you will have to deploy RingMaster's configuration to the WLC.
