This article explains why the web GUI of RingMaster may stop working after upgrading SmartPass to version 9.2 and later, and describes what must be done to resolve the issue.
The following symptoms may be seen:
The issue is caused by a Java version mismatch between the software versions (RingMaster 9.1 and SmartPass 9.2) installed on the same server machine.
To resolve the issue, perform the following steps:
- Verify that the SmartPass software that is installed on the server machine is release 9.2 or later.
From release 9.2 (RingMaster/SmartPass), Java is upgraded from version 1.6 to version 1.8 automatically when the RingMaster/SmartPass software is installed on the server machine.
-
Verify the RingMaster version that is installed on the server machine. If it is a release prior to version 9.2, upgrade the RingMaster software to version 9.2.
Before you upgrade the RingMaster software, make sure to perform the following steps to back up RingMaster:
Back up RingMaster before upgrade.
- Stop the RingMaster service.
-
Go to the location where RingMaster is installed (C:\Program Files\Juniper Networks\RingMaster).
-
Copy the RingMaster folder to a backup location.
-
Restart the RingMaster service.
Back up your RingMaster plan.
- Open the RingMaster web interface.
-
Navigate to Plan Management > Backup and Restore.
-
Go to the section labeled Backups at the bottom of the center pane.
-
Enter a name in the field labeled Backup Name (for example, Backup-Current Plan).
-
Select the Include Monitoring Database check box.
-
Click the Create Backup button. Allow the backup to complete.
-
In the Backup table, select the radio button next to the backup that was named in Step 4.
-
Click the Download button.
-
Save the zip archive to a backup location.
