[MX] Numerous PPPoE sessions drop with the RADIUS Acct-Terminate-Cause Attribute of 10 (NAS Request)

Article ID: KB31898 KB Last Updated: 10 Jul 2017Version: 1.0
Summary:

A large number of PPPoE sessions are dropped. This causes RADIUS Acct-Stop messages to be issued. If the RADIUS Acct-Terminate-Cause attribute is 10 (NAS Request), this may be due to bad access links.

Solution:

To determine if bad access links are a likely cause, check the terminate-code by using the JUNOS CLI command, 'show network-access aaa terminate-code detail'.

When the RADIUS terminate-code is 10, indicating 'NAS Request', and the specific Code is ‘lcp-keepalive-failure’, then bad access links may be the cause.

Example

{master:member0-re0}
test@mxvc> show network-access aaa terminate-code brief

Terminate-code:
  RADIUS     Custom Usage-Count Type Code
  10         no     1           ppp  lcp-keepalive-failure
