[Junos Space] How to enable SFTP service

Article ID: KB31902 KB Last Updated: 29 Jun 2017Version: 1.0

By default, Junos Space comes with SFTP Daemon service disabled. This article explains how to enable the service.

By default, the SFTP Daemon service is disabled in Junos Space.

To enable the SFTP service, follow these instructions.

  1. Edit the ssh configuration file. The file is found at:

In older Junos Space releases, the path to the service binary must be tweaked too, apart from un-commenting the service enabling line  :

    # Subsystem           sftp                   /usr/libexec/openssh/openssh/sftp-server

In newer Junos Space releases, the path to the service is correct. It is only necessary to un-comment the service enabling line:

    # Subsystem           sftp                   /usr/libexec/openssh/sftp-server

For all releases, the service configuration file line should look like this after modification:

    # Subsystem           sftp                  /usr/libexec/openssh/sftp-server
  2. Restart the SSHD daemon from the command line:

    # service sshd restart

Any failed SFTP sessions  should be restarted.
