[Archive] [WLC] Intermittent wireless connection and degraded wireless performance

When clients are frequently disconnecting from the wireless network when the AP switches from one channel to another on Radio 2, it may be caused by a lack of bonding between channels.

  1. Intermittent wireless connection

  2. Degraded wireless performance

  3. Unable to achieve expected bandwidth

  1. Verify whether APs on Radio 2 operate with channel 165.  

  2. If yes for the step above, then modify the channel to another channel (157, 140, etc.) so it can bond with other channels on Radio 2, which will improvise the client disconnection, performance and improvised bandwidth.

Note: WiFi channel 165 is unable to channel bond with any other channel (being last). Moreover, channel 165 works on 20 MHz wide band and is allowed by the FCC for WiFi. Several worldwide regulatory domains do not allow WiFi in this band. All 802.11a, 802.11n, and 802.11ac client devices can use this band, although this band is not used when larger channel sizes are deployed.
