Article ID: KB32104 KB Last Updated: 01 Sep 2017Version: 1.0
Summary:

Linecards of EX9200 devices are showing in present state while moving from VC to MC-LAG configuration. A virtual chassis and MC-Lag cannot co-exist together on the same chassis. This article explains how to recover the linecards in the EX9200 while moving to MC-LAG.

Symptoms:

Linecards of EX9200 devices are showing in present state while moving from VC to MC-LAG configuration. This can be determined as follows:

1. All the linecards will be in present state

user@host> show chassis fpc
show chassis fpc
Temp CPU Utilization (%) Memory Utilization (%)
Slot State (C) Total Interrupt DRAM (MB) Heap Buffer
  0 Empty
  1 Present 23
  2 Empty
  3 Present 23
  4 Empty
  5 Empty
  6 Empty

  2. We might receive this log message:

lcc_detach_interfaces_not_online lcc 0
in lcc_detach_interfaces_not_online vc mode is enabled.

Cause:

Virtual chassis and MC-Lag cannot co-exist together on the same chassis.

Solution:

Delete the virtual-chassis configuration from the EX9200.

Use this command to delete the VC in EX9200 chassis. Note that this command will reboot the chassis and restore the device to default standalone settings:

>request virtual-chassis member-id delete

After removing the virtual-chassis configuration, linecards will show online.
