Summary:

What information should I collect to assist in troubleshooting prior to opening a Service Request (case)?

Solution:

For troubleshooting a Contrail case, below is the Data Collection Checklist - Logs/data to collect for troubleshooting:

  1. Contrail Version
    Run the following command on any of the Contrail nodes:
    #contrail-version
     
  2. Openstack/Docker/Kubernetes/VMware SKU
    Specify the Cloud orchestrator. 
     
  3. Contrail Logs
    All the Contrail logs are located under /var/log/contrail/ directory. TAR the directory (tar -zcf contrail-logs.tgz /var/log/contrail/), and share with JTAC (by attaching to the SR).

    Note: For Contrail Controller related issues, collect logs from all Contrail Controller nodes.
     
  4. Contrail Process Status
    Run the following command on any Contrail node to find all the Contrail process statuses running on that node:
    #contrail-status -d
     
  5. Type of Deployment
    Provide a brief idea about the type of deployment, e.g.:
    - Contrail Cloud or Contrail Networking
    - Number of Contrail Controller nodes, Compute nodes, Openstack Controller nodes etc.
