Summary:
This article discuss about how to recover the password for SmartPass.
Symptoms:
  • Can't log into SmartPass
  • Error: Invalid username/password
  • User is unable to login or forgot the password for SmartPass​
Solution:
Use the following steps to recover the password for SmartPass.
  1. Stop the SmartPass services from services.msc. Select SmartPass and then click Stop

  2. Go to the SmartPass installation path: c:\\program files > Trapeze Networks > SmartPass
  3. Navigate to conf > gp2-services-conf.xml. Open gp2-services-conf.xml using Notepad /WordPad
    (path: c:\\program files > Trapeze Networks > SmartPass > conf > gp2-services-conf)
  4. Modify the attribute 'allow-all-users' from false


    to true


  5. Save the configuration and re-start SmartPass services from "services.msc" (Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.  Select SmartPass and then click Start)
  6. Access SmartPass using the default login credentials (username: admin; password: admin)
  7. Once SmartPass has launched, select the Setup tab and then select Access Control. Click ADD (below Local Accounts) to configure a new username and password to access SmartPass.  Jump to Step 9 to Edit an existing user.


  8. Enter the new username, password and then click Finish


  9. To change the password for an existing user, from the Access Control Setting screen (shown in Step 7 ), locate the username in the Local Accounts section. Click Edit
  10. Change the password as required


  11. ​Select Save and then logout of the SmartPass application
  12. You can now access SmartPass with the new or modified username and password
