[SRX] Understanding SNMP polling on an interface in a routing-instance

0

0

Article ID: KB32296 KB Last Updated: 22 Oct 2020Version: 3.0
Summary:

This article discusses how the polling functionality is available if the interface is part of a routing-instance.

Solution:

According to Juniper's document on Enabling SNMP Access over Routing Instances:

"To enable SNMP managers in routing instances other than the default routing instance to access SNMP information, include the routing-instance-access statement at the [edit snmp] hierarchy level."

Example:

root@FW1# show snmp
community comm1 {
    routing-instance VR1;
}
routing-instance-access;

  • All SNMP queries will only receive responses pertaining to that instance only.

  • All SNMP queries to a particular routing-instance must have the routing-instance name prefixed to the query.

  • The routing-instance name must be specified under the community configuration.
