[WLC] How to change the Telnet port on the controller

This article explains how to change the Telnet port on the controller.

The default Telnet port number is 23.

In the controller, there is an option to change the Telnet port number using the following command:

set ip telnet <port-num>

The following command changes the telnet port number on the controller to 5000:

WLCV# set ip telnet 5000
success: change accepted

Note: If you change the Telnet port number from a Telnet session, MSS immediately ends the session.

To open a new management session, Telnet to the switch with the new Telnet port number.

From the controller, verify the new telnet port number by using the command, 'show ip telnet'.
