Syslog message: illegal replication threshold: 0

Article ID: KB32372 KB Last Updated: 25 Mar 2020Version: 2.0

After committing an action, the following syslog message is seen:

Dec  8 15:04:25.660  raph-re0 : %DAEMON-3: (FPC Slot 4, PIC Slot 0)  ms40 mspmand[190]: illegal replication threshold: 0

The router is equipped with MS-MPC using Junos version 14.2/15.1.

This message is harmless and can be safely ignore. It means the replication threshold '0' is illegal, since there is no HA configuration (no replicate-services on MS-MPC/MC-PIC) in this router. Thus, every time a commit occurs, which modifies the MS-PIC related configuration, it will generate this message.

When there is HA configuration in the router, you will not see this message logged during commit.
