[WLC/WLA] Disabling 802.11b legacy clients on WLCs using WebView or CLI

Summary:

This article covers the steps to disable the 802.11b legacy clients on a Wireless Controller (WLC) by using WebView or the Command Line Interface (CLI).

Note: This feature can be disabled per service profile and if a cluster of WLCs is being used, the change may affect the other WLCs in the cluster that share the same configuration.

 

Solution:

The following steps can be used to disable the 802.11b legacy clients from WebView or CLI of the Wireless Controller.

Using WebView

  1. Open the WLC WebView.
  2. On the Configure tab, select Wireless > Access Points.

  3. On the Auto-Configure tab, select 802.11g/ng from the "802.11b/802.11g/802.11ng radio mode" field.

  4. Click Apply to apply the changes.

 

Using CLI

  • Alternatively, use the Command Line Interface (CLI) to enable the 11g/11ng rates and disable the 11b data rates.
  • Use the following commands as shown below:

    • # set service-profile <profile> transmit-rate 11g mandatory 1.0 ,2.0,5.5,11.0,24.0 beacon-rate 2.0 multicast-rate AUTO
    • # set service-profile <profile> transmit-rate 11ng mandatory 1.0 ,2.0,5.5,11.0,24.0 beacon-rate 2.0 multicast-rate AUTO‚Äč
