[Archive] Is there a counter to identify the number of packets dropped by 'unset interface vlan1 bypass-non-ip' in transparent mode?

0

0

Article ID: KB33087 KB Last Updated: 29 Sep 2020Version: 2.0
Summary:

When a ScreenOS box is deployed in transparent mode, configuring ‘unset interface vlan1 bypass-non-ip’ should drop all non-IP, L2 frames (non-ARP) etc.

  1. When a frame or packet is dropped by the above setting, where is it counted?

  2. Is the 'unknown pak' counter under 'get counter stat' relevant?

Solution:

When a ScreenOS Firewall is in transparent mode, the packet/frame is silently dropped if it matches the 'unset interface vlan1 bypass-non-ip' condition.

  1. There is no counter tracking these drops

  2. No log message is generated when a drop happens due to the above reason

This is a design limitation
