[WLC] Accessing WLC via Telnet from RingMaster and the WLC web interface

Summary:

Telnet control on a Wireless Controller (WLC) can be enabled from RingMaster or from the WLC web interface. This article details the steps for both methods.

 

Solution:

To enable Telnet control from RingMaster

  1. Open RingMaster.
  2. Go to Configuration > Management Services.

  3. Select the Telnet check box and click Save.

  4. Review and deploy the local changes that are available on the Devices tab.

  5. After the Telnet option is enabled, WLC can be accessed via Telnet by using any one of the terminal emulators such as Putty/SecureCRT.

 

To enable Telnet control from WLC web interface

  1. Open the WLC web GUI.
  2. Click Configure > System > Security.

  3. Select the “Enable telnet” check box.

  4. Click Apply to save the changes.

  5. After the Telnet option is enabled, WLC can be accessed via Telnet by using any one of the terminal emulators such as Putty/SecureCRT.
