[WLM] Unable to map a locally switched VLAN to the wireless service-profiles via RingMaster

Summary:

This article describes an alternative method to map a locally switched VLAN to the wireless service-profiles instead of mapping them via RingMaster.

 

Symptoms:
  1. Launch the RingMaster application.

  2. Click the Configuration tab and select Local Switching by navigating to Cluster Configuration > Wireless > Local Switching.

  3. Locate the list of VLAN Profile names and their respective locally switched VLAN Members (locally switched VLAN name).

  1. Navigate to Wireless > Wireless Services > Properties > Authorization Attributes > VLAN or VLAN (Pool) Name. Notice that there is no option to add a locally switched VLAN to the wireless service-profile. 

 

Cause:

There is no option because the locally switched VLAN name does not exist on the uplink port of the Wireless Controller. It is configured on the AP uplink port on the switch.

 

Solution:
  • To map a locally switched VLAN to a wireless service-profile, access the Wireless Controller via the Command Line Interface (CLI) and execute the following command:

# set service-profile <Service-profile name> attr vlan-name <Locally switched - Vlan name>
  • The name of the locally switched VLAN can be determined by executing the following command on the CLI:

show vlan-profile <profile-name>
