Cannot zeroize, reboot, or upgrade code in NFX250

Summary:

This article addresses the following two issues encountered on the NFX device:

  • ​Attempt is made to zeroize the NFX device and the following errors are generated:
    • application: operation-failed
    • error: Internal error while staging platform packages​
  • Attempt is made to upgrade the NFX device and following errors are generated
    • Error: There is a pending upgrade.
    • Please rollback pending upgrade or reboot device to complete pending upgrade.
Symptoms:

root@nfx250-1-jdm> request system zeroize
warning: System will be rebooted and current installation will be zeroized.
warning: This will stop all VNFs and remove all user configuration and data.
Reboot system to zeroize currently running installation? [yes,no] (no) yes
 
Staging zeroize (self) operation ...
System should be kept powered on until operation completes.

Please rollback pending upgrade or reboot device to complete pending upgrade.

Solution:

​The command needs to be executed on hypervisor. 

  •  To zeroize the device, login to hypervisor as root and run the following commands:
    /usr/sbin/upgrade_platform -r
    /usr/sbin/upgrade_platform -c     #This additional command is not always required, but harmless to run it.
 

Now you should be able to run 'request system zeroize' or 'request system software add' on JDM CLI.
