[ACX/MX] ISIS routes are not reflected into route table when using dual redistribution

Article ID: KB33382 KB Last Updated: 06 Apr 2019Version: 1.0

When using dual redistribution of OSPF-ISIS in the network design, ASBR routers will have OSPF routes in its routing table. It will not contain ISIS routes from the ISIS database. This is the expected Junos behavior.

After dual redistribution (OSPF<->ISIS) , ISIS routes are not present in the routing table, but they are reflected under ISIS database. Routes received via OSPF show under the 'show route protocol OSPF' command but is not reflected in ISIS routing table. OSPF is preferred because of the lower preference value of 10 and ISIS is the less preferred route because of it's value of 18. In the example above, jtac-ACX5048-AC-r002, jtac-ACX5048-AC-r001, jtac-ACX5048-AC-r003 are acting as ASBRs for OSPF.  On those ASBRs, only OSPF routes are being seen in the routing table versus both OSPF and ISIS, with OSPF being the preferred route.

As per Junos behavior towards ISIS protocol, this is working as currently designed.  Routes already learned via other protocol means that the ASBR router will have ISIS routes in its database but that those ISIS routes will not be reflected into route table with OSPF routes.
