How to perform a Smartpass upgrade

Summary:

This article provides the step by step procedure for upgrading Smartpass to version 9.2.

Solution:

Before installing SmartPass 9.2.5.2 (MR3), delete any other version of SmartPass that is already installed, since version 9.2 is bundled with JRE 1.8 (JRE 1.8 u66)

When upgrading to version 9.2.x.x for the first time, a clean installation is required. You must un-install the existing SmartPass installation.


Upgrade Steps:
  1. Stop SmartPass services; (Go Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and stop the Smartpass services)

  2. Take a complete backup of the SmartPass folder and copy it to a safer location. (C:\Program Files\Trapeze Networks\smartpass)
    (Or)       
     

  3. Start SmartPass services and launch the webpage of SmartPass.

  4. Navigate to maintenance > Backup & Restore. Create a manual backup including monitoring data and download the backup to a safer location.
     

  5. Go to setup > licensing; Take a complete screenshot of the SmartPass license page.

  6. ​Go to Users > User management; select all users and export to CSV file under actions tab.        
     

  7. ​Stop SmartPass services. Uninstall SmartPass and be sure to keep the necessary files and folders.

  8. Install the preferred version image and start the services.
