[ScreenOS] "Mixed address and ip are not allowed!" error when trying to add proxy ID in VPN

0

0

Article ID: KB33619 KB Last Updated: 31 Dec 2018Version: 1.0
Summary:

When an attempt is made to add multiple proxy IDs in VPN, the firewall generates a "Mixed address and ip are not allowed!" error message.

This article gives the reason for the error and the steps to avoid it.

Symptoms:
  • Proxy ID #1 is configured by using the Local IP and Remote IP options as shown below:

  • This adds the proxy ID as shown:

  • Proxy ID #2 is configured by using the Local Address and Remote Address options as follows:

  • When you click New to apply the above changes, the firewall generates the following error message: Mixed address and ip are not allowed!

Cause:

Proxy IDs can be configured either by using the Local/Remote IP option or by using the Local/Remote Address option. You cannot configure some proxy IDs by using the Local/Remote IP option and some proxy IDs by using the Local/Remote Address option in the same Phase 2 proxy ID configuration.

Solution:

To prevent the above error, add subsequent proxy IDs by using the same options that the previous proxy IDs were configured with.

  • In the example case, address "test2" corresponds to 10.1.1.10/32, whereas "test1" corresponds to 10.2.2.10/32.

  • Here, instead of using test1 and test2 addresses, we will directly feed 10.1.1.10/32 as Local IP and 10.2.2.10/32 as Remote IP.

  • This will successfully add proxy ID #2 as shown below:
