Article ID: KB33784 KB Last Updated: 02 Jul 2019Version: 1.0
Summary:

This article provides the cause for PIC 0 information to not show in the show chassis hardware output when SFP-T is plugged in to QFX5200-48Y chassis, and suggests the best way to resolve the issue.

Symptoms:

On QFX5200-48Y that is running Junos OS 18.1R2.6, if SFP-T is mistakenly plugged in to the chassis, the show chassis hardware output does not show PIC 0 information.

Before plugging in the SFT-T, the FPC is showing in the show chassis hardware output.

Cause:

It has been observed that the TVP driver pointers are not initialized with the NULL pointer, which is resulting in the PIC 0 information not being displayed in the output of show chassis hardware.

Solution:

The issue has been fixed in Junos OS release 18.4. Since the root cause of this issue is having mistakenly plugged in the SFP-T port, the workaround is to simply remove it.

Note: SFP-T is a copper module optic that the QFX5200-48Y device does not support. SFP-T can be plugged in to any chassis that supports copper model optics.

For the interface modules that are supported on QFX5200-48Y, refer to QFX5200-48Y.
