[EX/QFX] Configuration to generate SNMP trap for FPC Major alarm

0

0

Article ID: KB33848 KB Last Updated: 29 Apr 2019Version: 1.0
Summary:

This article assists in configuring the use of event-options policy on the EX4300, QFX5100, QFX1002 and QFX1008 devices to generate an SNMP trap when a FPC Major alarm is generated.

Symptoms:

Major alarm under 'show system alarms':

> show system alarms
1 alarms currently active
Alarm time               Class  Description
2018-05-05 00:24:56 UTC  Major  FPC 0 Major Errors

Log message with Major FPC error:

> show log messages | match Major
<time stamp>  <Hostname> alarmd[3755]: Alarm set: FPC color=RED, class=CHASSIS, reason=FPC 0 Major Errors
Solution:

Sample Configuration:

set event-options policy majoralarm1 events SYSTEM
set event-options policy majoralarm1 attributes-match SYSTEM.message matches "Alarm set: FPC color=RED, class=CHASSIS"
set event-options policy majoralarm1 then raise-trap

Assumptions:

  • SNMP trap server is configured and reachable from the device.
  • *SNMP related configuration is out of the scope of this KB
