[WANDL] Multiple instances of same VPN are observed

Article ID: KB33962 KB Last Updated: 20 May 2020Version: 2.0

In the online model, when you try to list all VPNs in your network, multiple instances of the same VPN may be observed. These multiple instances are seen to have minor differences such as different upper and lower case characters and some characters missing from the name. However, all these VPNs show the same routing-instance.

This article gives a reason for this behavior, and suggests a workaround to resolve the issue.

In the example below, there are multiple instances of vrf_21_Management_TE, which are as follows:

  • vrf_21_MAN
  • vrf_21_MANAG
  • vrf_21_MANAGEMENT_TE
  • vrf_21_Mana
  • vrf_21_Management_TE

Deleting the contents of /u/wandl/data/collection/.LiveNetwork and re-running all the tasks again does not help resolve the issue.

This is a software limitation, and is currently functioning as designed.

One workaround for this issue is to manually delete /u/wandl/data/.network_plan/vpn.x and re-run all the tasks again. When the tasks are re-run, the issue is resolved.
