[SRX] Error occurs with 'system snapshot' option in SRX TVP platforms

Summary:

This article provides a reference to the removal of the system snapshot option in SRX TVP platforms (SRX1500, SRX4100, SRX4200, SRX4600, and all variants of vSRX).

 

Symptoms:

Attempting to store a snapshot of the JunOS image will result in the following error:

root> request system snapshot media usb
Snapshot requires two pieces of storage media
error: this is a hard disk only configuration, snapshot not supported

 

Solution:

The error occurs because the system snapshot option is not supported in TVP platforms. Going forward, all future releases of TVP platforms will have this option removed.

Since this recovery option saves only a copy of the JunOS image and not the underlying Linux image, it may result in incompatibility between the JunOS and Linux software during recovery.

 

Modification History:
