[WLC] How to configure Self-Signed Certificate for admin via CLI

This article describes the steps to configure Self-Signed Certificates for an admin on the WLC via CLI.


To configure the self-signed certificates:

  1. Open the putty session of the Primary WLC

  2. Run the following command:

    #sh crypto certificate admin
    #crypto clear keys type admin
    #crypto clear certificates type admin
    #sh crypto certificate admin
    #crypto generate key admin 2048
    #crypto generate self-signed admin
  3. Enter the following details:

    Country Name: US
    State Name: CALIFORNIA
    Locality Name: LOS ANGELES
    Organizational Name: JUNIPER
    Organizational Unit:IT
    Common Name: admin.cert
    Email Address:
    Unstructured Name:

    #sh crypto certificate admin
