vSRX failures seen after vMotion VMWare migration

Summary:

This article explains the limitation of vSRX 2.0 with respect to vMotion VMware migration.

Symptoms:

Unexpected behaviors seen on vSRX 2.0 (standalone or cluster) after vMotion VMWare host migration was done. 

Issues seen may include the following (not limited to):

  • Loosing connectivity to the vSRX including access to its management port.
  • Clustering not working as expected.
  • VPN tunnels not working as expected.
Cause:

vMotion is NOT supported for ANY Junos versions on vSRX 2.0 and if attempted, it could lead to an unexpected behavior with the vSRX in standalone or cluster mode. 

Solution:

Create a new vSRX if the existing instance is unrecoverable with a reboot or continues to exhibit issues.
