[CSO] How to reset user cspadmin password using CLI

This article describes an alternative way for resetting the cspadmin password from the Command Line Interface (CLI).

Note: The password can also be reset with the registered e-mail address.



For CSO version 4.1.1, use the following instructions:

  1. Log in to one of the central Infra VMs.
  2. Authenticate by using the following command:

# source /etc/keystone/keystonerc
  1. Use the following command to reset the cspadmin password:
# openstack user set --password '<password>' cspadmin


root@centralinfravm:~# openstack user set --password '<password>' cspadmin


  1. For Password, enter the Keystone Password for admin user obtained from the CSO installer VM:

#./ deploy_manager/utils/ utility

Note: The new password needs to be set in single quotes; replace <password> with the intended password.

For CSO version 5.1.0, use the following instructions:

  1. Log in to the Startup server.
  2. Run the following command in the Startup server.

kubectl exec -it -n infra $(kubectl get pods -n infra | grep jkeystone | awk '{print $1}'| head -1) -- bash -c "source /root/openrc && openstack user set --password <new_password> cspadmin"


root@startupserver1:~/Contrail_Service_Orchestration_5.1.0# kubectl exec -it -n infra $(kubectl get pods -n infra | grep jkeystone | awk '{print $1}'| head -1) -- bash -c "source /root/openrc && openstack user set --password Junipertest cspadmin"

Verification: Log in to the Admin portal with the username cspadmin and the new password.
